Elophila africalis
Elophila africalis is a moth in the Crambidae family. It was described by George Hampson in 1906. This species is found across many African countries, including Angola, Benin, Botswana, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The wingspan is about 12–16 mm in males and 16–22 mm in females. Adults are on wing in February and from April to November, probably with continuous generations. The larvae feed on Azolla (water ferns) and Vossia (a type of grass). Synonyms include Parthenodes africalis, Isopteryx enixalis, Cymoriza linealis and Nymphula osculatrix.
