Troy (CDP), Vermont
Troy is an unincorporated village and census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Troy, Orleans County, Vermont. In 2020, the CDP had 261 residents, part of a town with 1,722 people total.
The village sits in northwestern Orleans County, in the west-central part of the town, near the border with Westfield. Vermont Routes 100 and 101 cross in the village center. Route 100 goes northeast 7 miles to Newport Center (where it meets Route 105) and south 8 miles to Lowell. Route 101 heads north 6 miles to North Troy, near the Canadian border.
Troy is in the Missisquoi River valley, with the river running along the village’s eastern edge. The river flows north into Quebec, then turns west, passes the northern end of the Green Mountains, reenters Vermont, and heads toward Lake Champlain.
The CDP covers about 0.95 square miles in total (0.92 square miles of land and 0.023 square miles of water) at an elevation of about 764 feet. It’s in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT). ZIP codes are 05868 (Troy) and 05859 (North Troy), and the area code is 802.
