Eli Arnstad
Eli Arnstad (born 4 May 1962) is a Norwegian civil servant, sports official and Centre Party politician. She was born in Stjørdal to Arne Arnstad and Aasta Arnstad. She is the twin sister of Marit Arnstad and mother of Ada Arnstad.
Education: She finished high school in 1981, studied at Mære Agricultural School until 1983, and earned a cand.mag. degree from Nord-Trøndelag University College in 1999, with minors in public law (1986) and political science (1989).
Politics and public service: She began in the early 1980s, chairing the Centre Youth regional chapter (1982–1985) and leading the Nordiska Centerns Ungdomsforbund (1989–1991). She worked in Trollhättan, Sweden (1991–1992). She served on Nord-Trøndelag county council (1983–1991) and was a deputy representative to the Storting for Nord-Trøndelag (1985–1989 and 1989–1993). She filled in as a regular representative in 1985–1986 and 1989–1990, totaling 1 year and 313 days in parliamentary session.
Later career: She was director of the Stiklestad Centre of Culture (1999–2000) and CEO of Enova (2001–2007). She became a supervisory council member of Sparebanken Midt-Norge in 2005 and a board member of Posten Norge in 2006. In football, she was elected leader of the Trøndelag District Association in 2010 and joined the board of the Football Association of Norway in 2014, representing IL Fram.
Local government: She was elected to the Stjørdal municipal council. After mayor Ivar Vigdenes resigned in 2022, Arnstad became the new mayor, and she won a term in her own right in the 2023 local elections.
