Lockyer Waters, Queensland
Lockyer Waters is a rural locality in the Lockyer Valley Region of Queensland, Australia. It covers about 16.6 square kilometres. In the 2021 census, 538 people lived there (561 in 2016). The area is mainly farms and rural homes, with land used mostly for grazing on native vegetation.
The name Lockyer Waters was approved in 1992 and comes from Lockyer Creek, which was likely named after Major Edmund Lockyer by explorer Allan Cunningham in 1829. Seven Mile Lagoon is a nearby waterhole.
Community facilities include the Alex Geddes Memorial Hall at the corner of Markai Road and Topaz Crescent, which has a children’s playground nearby, and the Lockyer Waters Rural Fire Brigade on Topaz Crescent.
There are no schools in Lockyer Waters. The nearest government primary schools are Kentville State School (Kentville), Mount Tarampa State School (Mount Tarampa) and Lake Clarendon State School (Lake Clarendon).
