PUM3
PUM3 (pumilio RNA binding family member 3) is a human protein encoded by the PUM3 gene, also known as KIAA0020. It belongs to the pumilio family of RNA-binding proteins that help control how RNA is used to make proteins. The PUM3 protein can bind RNA and DNA and is involved in regulating translation and other RNA-related processes.
In humans, PUM3 is located on chromosome 9 at 9p24.2. The mouse equivalent is on chromosome 19. The gene is broadly expressed across many tissues, with higher levels in the Achilles tendon, mucosal tissues, gonads, and pancreas. PUM3 has orthologs in other species, reflecting its conserved role in RNA regulation.
