Dave Coggin
Dave Coggin (born October 30, 1976) is a former American professional baseball pitcher who played in Major League Baseball for the Philadelphia Phillies from 2000 to 2002. Born in Covina, California, Coggin batted and threw right-handed. He was drafted by the Phillies in the first round of the 1995 MLB draft, 30th overall. He worked his way through the minor leagues with Martinsville, Piedmont, Clearwater, Reading, and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, before making his MLB debut on June 23, 2000. He appeared in 60 MLB games, including 29 starts, finishing his Phillies career with a 10–12 record, a 4.52 ERA, and 143 strikeouts over 199 innings.
In 2003 and 2004, Coggin returned to the minors with Clearwater and Scranton, and elected free agency on October 15, 2004. He signed several minor league contracts afterward: with Colorado (March 1, 2005, released April 1), with Tampa Bay (June 29, 2005), playing for the Visalia Oaks (High-A) where he went 3–2 with a 3.38 ERA, 27 strikeouts, and six saves in 29 1/3 innings. He then signed with Atlanta (March 8, 2006) and pitched for the Mississippi Braves (Double-A) with a 4.95 ERA in 20 innings before being released on June 24, 2006. In 2007, Coggin played for the Orange County Flyers of the Golden Baseball League, appearing in 12 games with a 6.94 ERA, six strikeouts, and six saves.
