Absalom Thompson House
Absalom Thompson House is a historic brick home located about two miles south of Spring Hill, Tennessee. It was built in 1835 for Absalom Thompson, likely by master craftsman Nathan Vaught. The original structure was a 1.5-story, ell-shaped Federal-style house with a flat roof.
Around 1860, the house was expanded to two stories and given Greek Revival features. The front facade is three bays wide and symmetrically arranged, and the exterior is painted white. The first-floor brickwork is Flemish bond, while the second story (added around 1860) uses American common bond.
Four exterior brick chimneys are placed in pairs on the east and west faces of the main section, and two chimneys sit on the ell (one original interior chimney and one new exterior chimney at the north end).
The Absalom Thompson House was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 11, 1979.
