Filiglig
Filiglig is a freshwater artificial lake (reservoir) in Ethiopia, located in Hintalo Wajirat woreda in the Tigray Region, near Hintalo. An earthen dam built in 1998 by SAERT holds the reservoir.
It covers about 0.065 square kilometers and stores around 0.296 million cubic meters of water. The water surface sits at about 2,070 meters above sea level.
The catchment area feeding the reservoir is 7.44 square kilometers, with a perimeter of 14.23 kilometers and a length of about 5.84 kilometers. The reservoir fills with sediment quickly, and in 2002 its life expectancy before heavy sedimentation was estimated at about 30 years.
The rocks in the catchment are Mekelle Dolerite and Agula Shale. Some water leaks through seepage, but this also helps recharge groundwater.
