Convergence is a DC Comics event from April to May 2015. The story centers on Brainiac, who collects cities and people from many of DC’s timelines—especially pre–Flashpoint eras—and traps them inside domes on a planet beyond time and space. He then lets the domes “interact” with one another to see what happens when heroes from different eras meet. The event brings back DC characters and timelines that existed before 2011’s Flashpoint (which created The New 52 universe).

The event was designed as a major crossover. It began with a #0 issue, followed by an eight-issue core miniseries and forty two-issue tie-ins. DC paused regular titles so readers could follow the Convergence story and its many crossovers, which brought together heroes and villains from across DC’s history inside Brainiac’s domes. Each dome represented a different era and universe, and the stories showed how those old and new versions of characters could clash or collaborate.

In the climax, Brainiac reveals a darker origin and a desire for redemption after tampering with the multiverse. He attempts to send everyone back to their own universes, but the consequences of earlier crises complicate his plan. By the end, the multiverse is reshaped rather than erased: old worlds continue to exist alongside their modernized forms, a concept later explored in The Multiversity.

Convergence also marks the end of the New 52 branding. In June 2015, DC launched a new publishing strategy that included 24 new series starting at issue one, while continuing many existing titles with their current numbering. Convergence and its miniseries were later collected as a trade edition.

Overall, Convergence is a multiverse-spanning event that mixes eras, revisits pre–Flashpoint DC, and reshapes how DC’s worlds coexist—setting the stage for future exploration of the DC Multiverse.
