List of United States local officials convicted of federal corruption offenses

Content sourced from Wikipedia, licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0.

This page lists notable United States local government officials who were convicted in federal court of public corruption while in office. The entries are organized by the office they held.

- It includes only notable officials who were convicted of corruption offenses. Minor officials are not listed. If an official was acquitted on some charges, they are not listed; if they were convicted on some counts and acquitted on others, only the convictions are shown.
- Officials convicted of state crimes are not included here. For a broader list, see the separate list of American state and local politicians convicted of crimes.
- Each entry notes the federal statute or statutes used to obtain the conviction, such as the Hobbs Act, mail and wire fraud (including honest services fraud), the Travel Act, the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), and the federal program bribery statute (18 U.S.C. § 666). These laws cover corruption in federal cases.
- Federal bribery, graft, and conflict-of-interest crimes in 18 U.S.C. §§ 201–227 also apply to federal officials (these do not apply to state and local officials).
- If a defendant was convicted of conspiracy to commit a corruption offense, the substantive offense is listed.
- Convictions for non-corruption offenses (e.g., false statements, perjury, obstruction of justice, electoral fraud, campaign finance violations) are not listed, and derivative offenses (such as tax evasion or money laundering) are not included.
- Some details, including post-conviction relief, may appear in footnotes.
