Council of Advisors on Digital Economy
The Council of Advisors on Digital Economy (German: Beirat Junge Digitale Wirtschaft beim Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft, abbreviated BJDW) is an advisory board set up by Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy in January 2013. It helps the government make strategic decisions about the digital economy and digital transformation. The council meets in private sessions and reports directly to the federal government. It is based in Berlin, and the minister in charge is Peter Altmaier, the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy. Members are chosen from industry, research institutions, and NGOs for their achievements, experience, and integrity, and they are not paid for their work. As of August 2020, the council had 29 members.
