Clevedon Town F.C.
Clevedon Town Football Club is a semi-professional team from Clevedon, Somerset, England. They play in the Western League Premier Division and host games at the Hand Stadium in Kenn. The ground holds up to 3,500 people, with 300 seated. The club is nicknamed The Seasiders. Their motto, vigilate et orate, means “watch and pray.” The chairman is Paul Davis, and the managers are Nick Steadman and Jamie Smith.
Founded in 1880, Clevedon Town have a long history in local football. They have won several cups over the years, including the Somerset Medal (1887–88), the Somerset Junior Cup (1897–98), and the Somerset Senior Cup (1901–02 and 1904–05). The club has moved through many leagues and have spent time in the Western League and the Southern League, earning promotions along the way. They also won the Midland Division title in the late 1990s to reach the Premier Division, and they reached the FA Cup first round in 2006–07.
In recent seasons, Clevedon Town finished fourth in the Western League Premier Division in 2023–24 and made the promotion play-offs, beating Bridgwater United in the semi-final but losing the final to Falmouth Town. In 2024–25 they were runners-up in the Premier Division, won the play-off semi-final against Buckland Athletic, and then lost the final to Brixham.
The club’s home ground history started at Dial Hill, then Old Street (later Teignmouth Road). They moved to the Hand Stadium in 1992 after selling their old ground to fund improvements. The Hand Stadium features a 300-seat stand and a large covered terrace.
