23S rRNA (adenosine1067-2'-O)-methyltransferase
23S rRNA (adenosine1067-2'-O)-methyltransferase (EC 2.1.1.230) is an enzyme that adds a methyl group from S-adenosyl-L-methionine to the 2'-O position of adenosine 1067 in 23S rRNA. It is also called 23S rRNA A1067 2'-methyltransferase, thiostrepton-resistance methylase, or nosiheptide-resistance methyltransferase. This methylation helps Streptomyces azureus, the producer of the antibiotic thiostrepton, protect itself from its own drug (autoimmunity).
