Charlotte Harbor Preserve State Park
Charlotte Harbor Preserve State Park is a Florida state park that covers about 42,500 acres of islands and land around Charlotte Harbor in southwest Florida. It is managed by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and protects areas such as Gasparilla Sound/Charlotte Harbor, Cape Haze, Matlacha Pass, and Pine Island Sound. The park is on the Great Florida Birding Trail (site 22 on the southern section). Visitors can enjoy boating, paddling, fishing, and hiking. Access the park from Punta Gorda, Cape Coral, Cape Haze, El Jobean, Rotonda, and Little Pine Island. The main offices are about 3 miles south of US 41 in Punta Gorda. There is no entrance fee, and the park is open daily from 8 a.m. to sundown year-round.
