Peter Winn (footballer)
Peter Harry Winn (born 19 December 1988 in Cleethorpes, England) is a former English footballer who mainly played as a winger and could also play as a full-back.
Winn came through Scunthorpe United’s youth system and made his first-team debut at 17. He was Scunthorpe’s Young Player of the Year for 2006–07 and started out as a goalkeeper before switching to the left wing at 14.
He spent time on loan with Northwich Victoria, Barrow and Gateshead, and after leaving Scunthorpe he joined Stevenage in 2010. He helped Stevenage win promotion to League One, scoring in the FA Cup and league, and even filled in as a substitute goalkeeper at times. He also had loans at Cambridge United and Grimsby Town before leaving Stevenage in 2012.
Winn then played for Macclesfield Town (2012–2014) and Chester (2014–15), including a loan to King’s Lynn Town in 2015. In July 2015 he returned to his hometown to play for Cleethorpes Town, where he won the NCEL Cup and the Premier Division title and helped the team reach the FA Vase final in 2017.
He moved to Grimsby Borough in 2018, winning the NCEL Division One title, then joined Barton Town (2019–2020). He later played in the Lincolnshire leagues for Nunsthorpe Tavern and Grimsby United, had a spell at Brigg Town, and returned to Barton Town in 2023, with a later stint back at Grimsby United in 2024.
After retiring from football, Winn began working as a transport planner.
