Charles Evans Hughes III (March 14, 1915 – January 7, 1985) was an American architect. One of his notable works is the Manufacturers Trust Company Building. He was the grandson of Chief Justice Charles Evans Hughes, the 1916 Republican presidential nominee, and the son of Charles Evans Hughes Jr., who served as United States Solicitor General in 1929 and 1930 under President Hoover. His younger brother, Stuart Hughes, was a historian known for antiwar activities during the Vietnam War. Hughes attended Deerfield Academy, Brown University, and the Harvard Graduate School of Design. In World War II, he served as a gunnery officer on the destroyer USS Mullany (DD-528). He was born in New York City and lived in Riverdale, Bronx, New York.
