Charles Drolet (May 8, 1795 – September 22, 1873) was a Quebec lawyer and political figure. Born in Quebec City, he became a lawyer in 1827 and practiced there. In 1830 he married Marguerite Quirouet, niece of François Quirouet. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada for Saguenay County in a 1836 by-election after François-Xavier Tessier’s death. He joined the Association des Frères-Chasseurs but did not take part in the armed resistance of 1837. In November 1838 he helped two Patriote prisoners escape from the Citadel of Quebec, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He fled to the United States, was captured at Saint-Gervais but escaped and reached the U.S. He was admitted to the New York bar in 1839 and practised in Detroit. After a general amnesty in 1849, he returned to Montreal. In 1850 he was named clerk of the Court of Vice-Admiralty at Quebec, and in 1854 he became deputy clerk of the Court of Appeal. He died in Quebec City in 1873.
