Cephalotes pallidoides is a tree-dwelling ant in the Cephalotes genus. It has an oddly shaped head and can glide to steer its fall if it drops from a branch, earning it the nickname “gliding ant.” Scientific classification: Kingdom Animalia; Phylum Arthropoda; Class Insecta; Order Hymenoptera; Family Formicidae; Subfamily Myrmicinae; Genus Cephalotes; Species pallidoides.
