Coastlands Shopping Centre, also known as Coastlands Shoppingtown, is a large shopping centre in Paraparaumu, New Zealand. It opened on 6 November 1969 with 21 shops in a space of about 6,180 square metres after land was bought in 1963 by accountant Ray Spackman. Today it has around 100 shops and about 49,000 square metres of floor space. The centre also gave its name to the nearby Coastlands Aquatic Centre, built by the Kāpiti Coast District Council after donations from Coastlands.

Historically, Coastlands was one of New Zealand’s first malls to trade on Sundays. In 1982 the centre made a deal with the Ngahina Trust to share land south of the Wharemauku Stream, creating Ngahina Arcade, now home to The Warehouse and Pak’nSave. The centre was later bought by Alpha Corporation, and Alpha bought it back in 1988, keeping ownership into the 2010s.

Over the years, Coastlands expanded and updated its facilities. In 2009 work began to add about 200 more car parks, redesign the food court, and improve bathrooms. In 2011 the Farmers store was doubled in size and a cinema opened, along with bathroom renovations. A garden centre site was demolished in 2014 to make way for Takiri House, a two‑storey commercial building named after Takiri Love, one of the first Coastlands shareholders. Takiri House opened in 2017, and a second Takiri House began construction in 2020 after delays from COVID‑19.

In 2015 the food court was expanded again to include four new shops and 120 extra seats. The Coastlands Aquatic Centre was approved in 2010 and opened in August 2013. It was mainly funded by the council, with Coastlands sponsoring the project. The pool features a floor that can be raised or lowered to suit children or swimming competitions. The project faced delays in 2011 when Mainzeal Property and Construction went into receivership. In 2011 a statue of Happy Feet—the penguin washed up on a nearby beach—was unveiled at Coastlands to raise funds for the aquatic centre; the statue later moved to the centre.

Today Coastlands remains a major shopping destination with about 100 shops and a 49,000 square metre retail space.
