Cuadras won a gold medal in the bantamweight division at the 2007 Pan American Games. He also competed at the 2007 World Championships, where he lost to Joe Murray.

Professional career
Cuadras was promoted by Teiken Promotions and trained in Mexico and Japan. He won several regional titles early in his career:

- WBC Continental Americas Super Flyweight (2011) by stopping Johnny García
- WBC USNBC Bantamweight title (2012) after beating Javier Franco

He captured the WBC super flyweight world title in 2014 and held it until 2016, when Román González defeated him by a 12-round decision. In 2017 he lost a very close fight to Juan Francisco Estrada, a bout famous for Michael Buffer briefly announcing the wrong winner before correcting himself. He then lost to McWilliams Arroyo in his next fight.

Later career and retirement
In 2024, Cuadras was to defend his interim WBC junior Bantamweight title against Andrew Moloney in Perth but withdrew due to injury. He announced his retirement from boxing on November 24, 2025, after a loss to Tomoya Tsuboi in Tokyo.
