Beqaa Governorate
Beqaa Governorate (Arabic: البقاع, Al-Biqā') is a governorate in eastern Lebanon that borders Syria. Its capital is the city of Zahlé. The area covers about 1,433 square kilometers and had an estimated population of around 534,000 people in 2017. It is one of Lebanon's eight governorates. In 2003, a law separated Baalbek and Hermel into a new Baalbek-Hermel Governorate, with the new governorate starting to operate in 2014. Beqaa uses Eastern European Time (UTC+2) and observes daylight saving time (UTC+3 in summer).
