Michael Dixon (museum director)
Sir Michael Dixon DL ARCS (born 16 March 1956) is a British museum leader. He is the principal of Green Templeton College, Oxford, a role he began in September 2020 after being elected in 2019. Before Oxford, he led the Natural History Museum in London from 2004 and earlier served as director general of the Zoological Society of London. He studied at Tiffin School in Kingston upon Thames, earned a BSc from Imperial College London and completed a DPhil at the University of York in 1984. He was knighted in the 2014 Birthday Honours for services to museums. Dixon married Richenda Milton-Thompson in 1988; they have two children, Isabel and Samuel, and divorced in 1999. He married Deborah Mary Reece (née McMahon) in 2001, and they have one son, Noah (born 1999).
