Bente Halkier
Bente Halkier (born 1964) is a Danish sociologist and academic. She has been Professor of Sociology at the University of Copenhagen since 2016. Halkier studied at Lancaster University in England, earning an MA in contemporary sociology in 1991, and she later earned a master’s degree from Aarhus University. She worked at Roskilde University as a research assistant and teaching assistant, began her PhD there in 1995, and earned it in 1998. She then spent two years as a postdoctoral researcher at Aarhus University and Roskilde University. From 2000 to 2011 she was an associate professor of sociology of knowledge at Roskilde, and from 2011 to 2016 she was Professor in Communication Theory and Methods there. Since 2016 she has been a Professor of Sociology at the University of Copenhagen.
