Chester Township, Morrow County, Ohio

Chester Township is one of 16 townships in Morrow County, Ohio. In 2020, 1,851 people lived in the township, with 191 in the village of Chesterville, which sits in the northern part of the township. It is located in the southeastern part of the county.

Chester Township was organized in 1812. It was named after Chester County, Pennsylvania, home to some of the first settlers. It is one of five Chester Townships in Ohio.

The township covers about 26.4 square miles and has a very small amount of water. It sits at about 1,122 feet above sea level.

Government is handled by a three-member board of trustees. Trustees are elected to four-year terms in November of odd-numbered years. Two trustees are elected after the presidential election and one is elected in the year before it. There is also a township fiscal officer elected to a four-year term beginning April 1 after the election, which is held in November before the presidential election. If a vacancy occurs, the remaining trustees fill it.
