Battleship Parkway

Battleship Parkway, commonly called the Causeway, is a 7-mile road that crosses Mobile Bay in Alabama. It carries US 90 and US 98 east from Blakeley Island in Mobile to Spanish Fort. The road is mostly a four-lane divided highway.

It was built in 1926 as raised embankments and concrete bridges. For many years it was the only road link between Mobile and Baldwin counties across the bay, until Jubilee Parkway opened in 1978.

The causeway is home to Battleship Memorial Park and many popular seafood restaurants in the Mobile area. It is also prone to flooding and can be submerged during hurricane storm surges.

In 2007, a 3.4-mile section was fitted with a turtle fence to help protect the Alabama red-bellied cooter from traffic.
