Punk rap

Punk rap is a mix of punk rock and hip‑hop. It also borrows from trap, heavy metal, and lo‑fi music. Some artists use punk-style screaming; others keep punk’s attitude and melody. It started in the late 2000s and early 2010s, with influences from Atlanta trap and Miami acts like SpaceGhostPurrp. Lil Jon’s aggressive vocal style is also seen as an influence. Punk rap songs are usually short, loud, and distorted, with a raw, rebellious feel. Early supporters include Odd Future, who blended hip‑hop with shock humor. Some writers view the genre as a rebellious response to politics of the time, such as Brexit, Donald Trump, and climate change. It’s sometimes called punk trap.
