Oswald Kohts

Oswald Kohts (1844–1912) was a German doctor who specialized in children's health. He was born in Berent, Prussia, and studied medicine at Jena, Königsberg and Berlin. In 1870 he worked as an assistant to Ernst von Leyden in Königsberg. In 1872 he moved to Strassburg to work at the polyclinic, where he became associate professor and head of the children's clinic. In 1878 he was named director of the university polyclinic. His Strassburg students included dermatologist Eduard Arning and pediatrician Ferdinand Siegert. He joined the German Academy of Natural Scientists Leopoldina in 1886. Kohts wrote several monographs that were used in Carl Gerhardt's Handbuch der Kinderkrankheiten.
