Austin Hendrick
Austin Daniel Hendrick (born June 15, 2001) is an American professional baseball outfielder in the Cincinnati Reds organization. He bats left and throws left. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and attended West Allegheny Senior High School, where he played outfield and was a starting pitcher.
Hendrick was one of the top high school prospects. After his freshman year he committed to Mississippi State. In his junior season he hit well and posted a strong on-base percentage. He also played for the United States in the 2019 U18 Baseball World Cup in Gijang, South Korea, and he won the Home Run Derby at both the Under Armour All-America Game and the MLB High School Home Run Derby.
The Reds selected him 12th overall in the 2020 draft and gave him a $4 million bonus. Because the 2020 minor league season was canceled, he trained in the Reds’ 60-man pool at Prasco Park. He made his professional debut in 2021 with the Daytona Tortugas (Low-A Southeast), batting .211/.380/.388 with 7 home runs, 29 RBIs and 16 doubles in 63 games, while dealing with groin and wrist injuries. In 2022 he batted .217.
