Christopher Kearney is a Canadian singer and songwriter from Toronto who grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. He began his music career after returning from service in the Vietnam War.

His debut single, "A Theme for Jody," came out in 1970 with some help from Gordon Lightfoot. The song later became a Canadian hit as "Theme for Jody." He followed with the single "Country Lady" in 1971.

Kearney signed with Capitol Records and released three albums: Christopher Kearney, Pemmican Stash, and Sweetwater. He later formed the group China with Danny McBride and Bill King. In 1972 he was chosen to represent Canada at the Brazil Song Festival.

He was managed by Magic Management (Peter Francey and Clark Spencer) and promoted by Slic Bros., with publicity led by Michele Frank. During this period he built a national and international promo push, including plans for a U.S. tour and promotion at colleges.

In Canada, his songs enjoyed chart activity: "Theme for Jody" reached #13 on the MAPL Top 50 and #71 on the RPM100 Singles chart. His self-titled album reached #70 on the RPM100 Albums chart, and the single "Loosen Up" peaked at #84 on the RPM100 Singles chart.

In 1973 he worked toward a second Capitol album and continued touring, with promotion at venues like Grumbles Coffee House. He released the single "Runnin' Child" in 1975.

In 1993 he drew attention for co-writing "A Letter From Sarajevo" with Scott Lane and Neil Dobson, a piece about children in war-torn Bosnia. In 2008 he released the album Just A Step Away.
