Ou-Boet Strydom
Louis Jacobus Strydom, known as Ou-Boet Strydom, was a South African rugby union player born on 27 October 1921 in Robertson. He stood 1.83 m tall and weighed about 93.9 kg. A Boland Schools representative, he began his provincial career as a 19-year-old winger for Boland. In 1942 he moved to Pretoria to work for the Prison Service and played for the Prison Officers club. He later played for Northern Transvaal, initially as a three-quarter before switching to the pack in 1946, and earned a Springboks call-up in 1949 as a wing-forward. Strydom played two international tests for South Africa in 1949 against the touring All Blacks, at Newlands and Ellis Park, scoring no points. He passed away on 11 May 2003 at the age of 81.
