Henry Legge (courtier)
Colonel Sir Henry Charles Legge (4 November 1852 – 20 June 1924) was a British soldier and courtier. He was the second son of William Legge, 5th Earl of Dartmouth, and Augusta Legge, which gave him the courtesy title The Honourable. He studied at Eton College, joined the Coldstream Guards in 1872, and retired in 1899.
Legge served as an equerry to the King from 1893 to 1915. In 1915 he became Paymaster to the King's Household and an extra equerry, retiring in 1920.
He was made a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in 1910 and promoted to Knight Grand Cross in 1920. He also received the Prussian Order of the Crown (2nd class) in January 1903.
In 1884 he married Amy Gwendoline Lambart; they had two children. Henry Legge died on 20 June 1924 at the age of 71. Through his daughter Vita he had several grandchildren, including Richard Williams-Bulkeley, who became the 13th Baronet.
