Athis-de-l'Orne
Athis-de-l'Orne is a place in northwestern France, in the Orne department of Normandy. It was its own commune until January 1, 2016, when it merged into the new commune of Athis-Val-de-Rouvre. The name “de l’Orne” was added in 1968 to tell it apart from other towns named Athis.
The area is part of Suisse Normande. The Vère and Lembron rivers flow through it. The church of Saint Vigor dates from the 19th century. Athis-de-l’Orne has twinned towns: Bromyard in Herefordshire, England since 1980, and Schöppenstedt in Lower Saxony, Germany since 1986.
Before the merger, the area covered about 132.5 square kilometers and had around 2,470 residents in 2022, with a density of about 76 people per square kilometer. The elevation varies from 102 to 268 meters above sea level. It is in the Argentan arrondissement.
