Animelo Summer Live
Animelo Summer Live, also known as Anisama, is Japan’s biggest annual anime-song festival. It’s run by Dwango and Nippon Cultural Broadcasting and has been held every summer since 2005.
Artists at Anisama are singers and voice actors who specialize in anime or game theme songs, though they also perform original songs and tokusatsu material. They often perform with their own band or with a special Anisama band. Each year has its own theme song sung by all performers at the end of the show.
The festival has moved locations over the years:
- 2005: Yoyogi National Gymnasium
- 2006–2007: Nippon Budokan
- 2008–2019, 2021–2025, 2027–present: Saitama Super Arena
- 2026: Makuhari Messe
Dates are usually in late August, though the 2026 edition was planned for July. Attendance was about 87,000 in 2025.
Anisama has featured many well-known artists such as Rina Aiuchi, Shoko Nakagawa, Gackt, LiSA, and more. Some performances are not released on DVD/Blu-ray due to rights issues.
Spinoff events started with Anisama Girl’s Night in 2010, followed by Anisama Super Game Song Live in 2012. Each spinoff had its own CDs, such as Nettaiya Girls (2010) and New Game (2012).
Sponsors include Dwango, Nippon Cultural Broadcasting, Good Smile Company, and Bushiroad. Each year’s theme song is also released on CD. For more information, visit anisama.tv.
