George Buckley (cricketer, born 1889)
George Arthur Buckley (3 February 1889 – 1 December 1935) was an English cricketer who played one first-class match for Derbyshire in 1921. He was born in Skegby, near Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. Buckley played for Cheshire in the Minor Counties Championship in 1909 and for Keighley and Craven District in 1913, when he was selected for Nottinghamshire against Leicestershire but had to withdraw due to injury. His only first-class appearance came in June 1921 for Derbyshire against Yorkshire, where he scored 8 and 2 and bowled 10 overs without taking a wicket. He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler, totaling 10 runs in his two innings and taking no wickets in his 10 overs. Buckley later became a director of Sheffield United Cricket and Football Club. He died in Norton Lees, Yorkshire, aged 46.
