Reggello is a town (comune) in Tuscany, Italy, in the Metropolitan City of Florence. It’s about 35 kilometers southeast of Florence, located between the Pratomagno mountains and the Upper Valdarno valley. It borders Castel San Niccolò, Castelfranco Piandiscò, Figline e Incisa Valdarno, Montemignaio, Pelago and Rignano sull’Arno.

People have lived in the Reggello area for a long time. The names around the area show influences from Etruscan, Roman and Lombard cultures. The town began as Castelvecchio di Cascia and grew as a market near the Resco torrent, where three roads met (two from the Casentino Valley and the old Cassia Vetus road, now the Setteponti road). Reggello was officially founded in 1773, and its current borders date from 1840.

In 1966, a flood of the Arno River caused a landslide that destroyed a neighborhood in Reggello and killed seven people.

Today Reggello covers about 122 square kilometers and sits at around 390 meters above sea level. The residents are called Reggellesi. The patron saint is St. James. The local football team is S.S. Resco Reggello, which plays in the Promozione league.
