Colerain Township is a small community in southeastern Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. As of 2020, 3,883 people lived there, up from 3,635 in 2010. It is part of the Solanco School District.

History
Colerain Township was organized in 1738. It was settled mainly by Irish immigrants and was named after Coleraine, a port town in what is now Northern Ireland. Early settlers included Presbyterian Scots and Scotch-Irish.

Language
In 2020, about 61.8% of residents spoke only English, while about 38.1% spoke another Indo-European language, mainly Pennsylvania German/German.

Historic places
The White Rock Forge Covered Bridge, the John Douglass House, and the Andrews Bridge Historic District are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Geography
The township covers about 29.4 square miles in total, with around 28.8 square miles of land and 0.6 square miles of water. The communities of Collins, Andrews Bridge, Kirkwood, and Union are part of Colerain Township.

Population and families (from the 2000 census)
There were 3,261 people and 964 households. The area was about 97.8% White, with small percentages of African American, Native American, Asian, and other races. The median household income was about $47,000, and the per capita income was about $15,600. Roughly 8–11% of people were below the poverty line.
