Mamoon Hamid
Mamoon Hamid (born 1978) is a Pakistani-American venture capitalist and aManaging Member and General Partner at Kleiner Perkins, one of Silicon Valley’s oldest venture firms. He began his career at Xilinx in engineering and business roles, then joined US Venture Partners in 2005, leading early investments in Yammer and Box. In 2011 he co-founded Social Capital, backing companies such as Intercom, Greenhouse, Netskope, and Front, and he was the first outside investor in the unicorn Slack. He joined Kleiner Perkins as Managing Member and General Partner in August 2017. Hamid has been named to Forbes’ Midas List of top tech investors for five straight years, first appearing in 2014. In 2017 he ranked No. 76 on Electronics Weekly’s Top 100 VCs and No. 61 on a list by The New York Times and CB Insights. He chairs the Institute for Constitutional Advocacy and Protection and organized a private fundraiser the day after President Trump signed Executive Order 13769, which raised about $1 million to challenge the order in court. He lives in Palo Alto, California with his wife, Dr. Aaliya Yaqub, and their children. Hamid studied at Purdue University, Stanford University, and Harvard Business School.
