Alexander Meduna, born in 1957 in Olomouc, Czech Republic, is a theoretical computer scientist who specializes in compiler design, formal languages, and automata. He is a professor of computer science at Brno University of Technology. He has taught theoretical computer science at various European and American universities, including the University of Missouri, where he spent about ten years teaching advanced topics in formal language theory. He has written several books and more than sixty papers. Meduna is also an artist focused on visual art, with exhibitions in the United States and Europe, and he often performs poetry readings.
