Hats Off (2008 film)
Hats Off is a 2008 American documentary directed by Jyll Johnstone. It runs 84 minutes and stars Mimi Weddell. The film follows 93-year-old Mimi as she continues a busy career in New York City.
Through Mimi’s daily life, the movie shows her energetic personality and her relationship with her children. It takes viewers from her apartment to dance lessons, auditions, beauty appointments, and stylish strolls around New York.
Shot over ten years, Hats Off uses a mix of scenes and interviews with family members, casting agents, and fellow actors to show Mimi’s energy and dedication to her craft. Her career spans from her debut in Dracula's Last Rites to a Juicy Couture print ad.
The film premiered at the Telluride Film Festival and the Palm Springs International Film Festival and was also broadcast on Sveriges Television in Sweden. Hats Off is the second film in a series by Johnstone about three women aged 85 and up who remain creatively active.
