5th Parliament of Lower Canada
The 5th Parliament of Lower Canada sat from April 10 to May 18, 1809. Elections for the Legislative Assembly had been held in May 1808. Governor James Henry Craig prorogued the session after Ezekiel Hart was expelled by the assembly and after a bill was introduced to bar judges from joining the assembly. He also hoped to reduce the Parti canadien’s representation in the next election. All meetings were held in Quebec City.
