Milton, Washington is a small city in the state’s King and Pierce counties, just north of Edgewood. It covers about 2.6 square miles, mostly land, and sits about 223 feet above sea level.

As of the 2020 census, Milton had 8,697 residents. There were about 3,288 families, and the median age was 37.3 years. The population is mainly White, with smaller numbers of Asian, African American, Native American, Pacific Islander, and people of two or more races; about 11% are Hispanic or Latino.

Milton uses a mayor–council form of government. The current mayor is Shanna Styron Sherrell.

The city lies in the North Hill area, bordering Edgewood, with the Puyallup River valley separating it from the South Hill area. Summers are warm and dry, with mild winters.

Education: most of Milton (the Pierce County portion) is in Fife Public Schools, while parts in King County are in the Federal Way School District.
