Reynolds School District (Oregon)
Reynolds School District is in Oregon and serves students from kindergarten through 12th grade. It is based in Fairview and has about 10,411 students. The district covers Fairview, Wood Village, most of Troutdale, and parts of Gresham and Portland. It was named after Reynolds Aluminum, once the area’s biggest employer. The district formed in 1954 when Fairview, Troutdale, and Wilkes elementary districts merged.
In 2015, voters approved a bond of 125 million dollars to replace and renovate several schools and add security upgrades. The plan included building new Troutdale Elementary, Fairview Elementary, and Wilkes Elementary, and remodeling a large part of Reynolds High School. The bond passed with 52% support.
Construction on the first secure vestibules began in late 2016, and major projects started in spring 2017. They were expected to be finished in fall 2018.
The school board has seven elected members who serve four-year terms.
During the 2012–2013 school year, 768 students were homeless, about 6.76% of students in the district.
