229 BC was a year in the pre-Julian Roman calendar. It was known as the Year of the Consulship of Albinus and Centumalus and was also counted as 525 Ab urbe condita (from Rome’s founding). The label 229 BC came into use in the early medieval period when the Anno Domini dating system became common in Europe.
