Horie Station
Horie Station (堀江駅, Horie-eki) is a small, unstaffed passenger station in Horiecho, Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture, Japan. It is on JR Shikoku’s Yosan Line and has the station code Y52. The station is 184.9 km from Takamatsu, the line’s starting point. Only local Yosan Line trains stop here, serving the section between Iyo-Saijō and Matsuyama. To travel further along the line, you’d need to transfer to another train.
The station has two side platforms serving two tracks. A footbridge connects the platforms, and a siding branches off line 1 to the remains of a disused freight platform. A disused freight car beside the tracks has been turned into a waiting room, in the style of Minoura. The station is not accessible for wheelchairs due to the footbridge layout.
Horie Station opened on 3 April 1927 when the Sanyo Line was extended from Iyo-Hōjō to Matsuyama. It was originally operated by Japanese Government Railways, later becoming JNR. After the privatization of JNR on 1 April 1987, control passed to JR Shikoku.
In fiscal year 2019, about 444 passengers used the station daily.
