Weldenia candida
Weldenia candida is a flowering plant in the family Commelinaceae, native to Mexico and Guatemala. It is a herbaceous perennial with a rosette of broad green, strap-shaped leaves. Its central stem bears bright white flowers with three petals, blooming for a long period in late spring and summer.
Hardiness and care: It tolerates frost down to about -5 °C (23 °F). In temperate zones, plant in a mild, sheltered spot in full sun, with well-drained soil that is neutral or slightly acidic. It prefers dry conditions during winter, so protect it with a covered or alpine-style house.
Name note: The species name candida means "shining white."
