The 2016 ARMM general election was held on May 9, 2016. It was the second ARMM election held together with the Philippine general election and the last one for ARMM.

Governor race:
- Mujiv Hataman (Liberal Party) won re-election with running mate Haroun Al-Rashid Lucman.
- They defeated Sakur Tan (Independent) and running mate Haron Bandila.
- Hataman received 875,200 votes (70.16%); Tan received 341,280 votes (27.36%).

The governor and vice governor are elected separately, so they can come from different parties. Regional Assembly elections use a three-seat-per-district system (plurality-at-large): voters can vote for up to three candidates, and the three candidates with the most votes win the seats.

This was the last ARMM election. In 2019, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region was created, and ARMM dissolved on February 26, 2019, when the Bangsamoro Transition Authority took over. Most 2016 winners joined the BTA Parliament temporarily until their terms ended, with all but Hataman choosing to participate.

The first Bangsamoro general election was planned for October 13, 2025, but was delayed after the Supreme Court ruled that two districting laws were unconstitutional, pushing the election to be held no later than March 31, 2026.
