Burnsville–Eagan–Savage School District
Burnsville–Eagan–Savage is an independent school district in Minnesota. It serves Burnsville and parts of Savage and Eagan. The district has about 10,000 students across 13 schools: one high school, two middle schools, and ten elementary schools.
Students have done well on tests. District science scores were above the state average on the MCA-II for 5th grade, 8th grade, and Burnsville High School. Burnsville High School students also scored above state and national averages on the ACT, with an average around 23.4 (up from 22.7).
The district offers adult education, including Adult Basic Education, English language classes, and GED programs.
Energy efficiency is a focus. The district works with the Schools for Energy Efficiency program and Energy Star to save money and reduce carbon emissions.
The School Board has discussed creating magnet schools, including a fine arts and performing arts school in a new Performing Arts Center in Burnsville.
Enrollment was about 9,864 students in the 2009-10 school year. The student body is roughly 63% White, 17% Black, 10% Hispanic, 9% Asian, with American Indian students making up the rest. About 16% of students are English Language Learners, 13% are in special education, and about 35% qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. The district speaks 57 languages.
