The 1975 Boston Marathon was held in Boston, Massachusetts on Monday, April 21. It was the 79th running of the race. Of the 2,041 runners who started, 1,838 finished (1,810 men and 28 women). Bill Rodgers of the United States won the men’s race in 2:09:55, a new course record. Liane Winter of West Germany won the women’s race in 2:42:24, a world record. Bob Hall became the first wheelchair finisher, with a time of 2:58:00. Notable finishers included Amby Burfoot in 32nd place and John J. Kelley in 167th.
