The 1929 French Grand Prix, officially the XXIII Grand Prix de l'Automobile Club de France, was held at Le Mans on 30 June 1929. The race covered 37 laps of a 16.34 km road course, for a total distance of 604.58 km.

Pole position went to Raoul de Rovin driving a Bugatti, with grid positions decided by ballot. The fastest lap was set by W. Williams in a Bugatti, at 7 minutes 1.0 seconds.

The race was won by W. Williams (Bugatti), who led from start to finish. Second place went to André Boillot (Peugeot), and third to Caberto Conelli (Bugatti).

New rules for 1929 changed the formula: there was no engine size limit, but cars had to weigh at least 900 kg and could use no more than 85 kg of fuel, carried in external tanks.
