1846 North Carolina gubernatorial election

On August 6, 1846, North Carolina voters chose their governor. The incumbent Whig, William Alexander Graham, won re-election against Democrat James B. Shepard. Graham got 43,486 votes (54.97%), Shepard 35,627 votes (45.03%), a margin of 7,859 votes. As a result, the Whig Party kept the governor's office. Graham was sworn in for his second term on January 1, 1847.
